TAMIL NADU STATE WOMEN CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP
R. Preethi of Madurai claimed the Tamil Nadu State women title in the championship organized by Salem District Chess Association at St. John’s Matriculation School . She remained unbeaten through out the championship, scoring 9.5 points from 11 rounds

Vishy Anand's fifth Chess Oscar
World Champion Anand was selected by 130 experts. In second place was Vladimir Kramnik, and third was Gata Kamsky. This is Anand's fifth Chess Oscar – more than any other non-Russian player. ASIAN JUNIOR CHAMPION 2007
Tamil Nadu players make it 1-2-3 in the Asian Junior at Mumbai. P.Karthikeyan of Chennai emerged Asian Junior Champion. He thus became India’s latest International Master and also got his maiden 9 round GM Norm. Second and third were Ashwin Jayaram and M.Shyam Sundar.
