TAMIL NADU STATE WOMEN CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP
R. Preethi of Madurai claimed the Tamil Nadu State women title in the championship organized by Salem District Chess Association at St. John’s Matriculation School . She remained unbeaten through out the championship, scoring 9.5 points from 11 rounds

Vishy Anand's fifth Chess Oscar
World Champion Anand was selected by 130 experts. In second place was Vladimir Kramnik, and third was Gata Kamsky. This is Anand's fifth Chess Oscar – more than any other non-Russian player. The traditional Chess Oscar, which has been conducted (with a break) since 1967, is awarded on the basis of votes cast by chess journalists for the ten best player of the past year.

61st Anniversary of TN State Chess Association celebrated
The Tamil Nadu State Chess Association celebrated its 61st birthday in pure chess style with Contests in Tactical Chess, a Lecture by Grandmaster R.B.Ramesh and four simultaneous, Simultaneous Displays by Super Grandmaster K.Sasikiran and three International Masters - M.R.Venkatesh, B.Adhiban and P.Karthikeyan

6th Tamil Nadu State Veterans’ Chess Championship
T.V.Subramanian of Trichy won the 6th Tamil Nadu State Veterans’ Chess Championship
He recieved the Prize from Rtn P.R.Sudesh, President of Rotary Club of Madras Metro, in presence of Mr. Manuel Aaron, General Secretary, Tamil Nadu State Chess Association.

ASIAN JUNIOR CHAMPION 2007
Tamil Nadu players make it 1-2-3 in the Asian Junior at Mumbai. P.Karthikeyan of Chennai emerged Asian Junior Champion. He thus became India’s latest International Master and also got his maiden 9 round GM Norm. Second and third were Ashwin Jayaram and M.Shyam Sundar.
